Description

This Grilled Cheese with Apple and Bacon recipe elevates the classic grilled cheese sandwich into a gourmet experience. The sharpness of cheddar cheese, tart Granny Smith apple slices, and smoky, crispy bacon, all encased in buttery sourdough bread, create a perfect blend of textures and flavors. It’s an ideal choice for a quick lunch, hearty snack, or a cozy autumn dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 slices sourdough bread
  • 8 slices sharp cheddar cheese
  • 8 slices crispy bacon
  • 1 Granny Smith apple, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Spread softened butter on one side of each slice of bread.
  3. On the unbuttered side of 4 slices, spread Dijon mustard. Layer each with:
    • 2 slices of cheddar cheese
    • 2 slices of crispy bacon
    • Thin apple slices
  4. Top each with another slice of bread, buttered side out.
  5. Place the sandwiches in the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes per side, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
  6. Remove from the skillet, slice in half, and serve hot.
