Description

Bacon French Toast Roll-Ups are a delightful fusion of savory and sweet, combining smoky bacon with buttery French toast. These crispy, golden roll-ups are perfect for breakfast, brunch, or an on-the-go meal. With just 20 minutes of preparation and cooking time, this recipe is simple yet indulgent, making it a favorite for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 slices fresh soft sandwich bread (white, wholemeal, or wholegrain)
  • 6 slices streaky bacon, rind removed
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons milk (full cream or low fat)
  • Pinch of salt
  • Optional for serving: Nachos Cheese Dip

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Bread: Remove the crusts from the bread slices and use a rolling pin to flatten them.
  2. Mix the Egg Mixture: In a shallow dish, whisk together the egg, milk, and a pinch of salt.
  3. Cook the Bacon: Heat a large pan over high heat. Sear the bacon slices on both sides until browned but not crispy.
  4. Assemble the Roll-Ups: Place a slice of bacon on each flattened bread slice. Roll the bread tightly around the bacon, ensuring the seam side faces down.
  5. Prepare the Pan: Wipe the pan clean, add the butter, and heat until melted.
  6. Dip and Cook: Dip each roll-up in the egg mixture, ensuring full coating. Gently twist the roll-up to seal the seam. Place the roll-ups in the pan and cook for 3-4 minutes, rotating occasionally, until all sides are golden brown.
  7. Serve: Serve immediately, optionally paired with Nachos Cheese Dip or your favorite sauce.
